New "0.315" Lee Enfield - Indian Ordnance Factories
I was incorrectly under the impression that AIA were the last remaining manufacturer of a Lee Enfield based rifle.
The Indian Ordnance Factory 0.315" Sporter Rifle looks very much like a SMLE factory sporter. Unfortunately their website pic is quite small.
Ordnance Factory Board
According to the website they are available for civilian use - they look a lot better than those dodgy Kyber Pass dodgy rifles on Gun Broker!!
Does anyone have of one of these interesting rifles in their collection?
Happy Days
Paul

8x50, perhaps. .303 is an illegal calibre in India, as in many other ex-British colonies in Africa.

Their .32 revolver looks very familiar, not positive about the pistol's design roots, any ideas?
Brad
PS I wonder if the 5 round .315 magazine would be something for the hunting members???

Not to highjack the thread - but does anyone think we'll ever see any more of the AIA's in the U.S.
I've looked on gunbroker periodically and nothing seems to ever surface

The last time I had any correspondence from AIA they said they were not going to ship to the US again. According to Kyle at AIA they were never paid for the original guns they sent and will not take that chance again. There are a few left in Canada
at Marstar but importing to the USA
would be a financial challenge. A few months ago I heard Gander Mountain might have had a few AIA rifles left It is a real shame as they are good value and shoot well.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

We see them here, but they don't seem to sell well.

'I was incorrectly under the impression that AIA were the last remaining manufacturer of a Lee Enfield based rifle.'
There's a few on Enfield Resource, alternate enfields new made that is, AIA, India, and also Armalon, they have real nice rifles there, they're on resource with pics under 'the truth about kilts' bit.
Secret Life of Kilts
'Armalon's AL42 is a .223/5.56 calibre quick detachable box magazine hybrid of the Enfield L42 .308/7.62 sniper rifle'
awesome
Ya know, enfields remind me of spitfires. In a fast moving arena of fast outdating equipment, they both just keep/kept on adding natural modifications, and the life and use of them just kept on going and going easter bunny style.
Spitfires had maybe 25 significantly different marks, started years before the war, and lasted in service in the Uk until the 50's. This while entire marks of great planes were born, served, retired and vanished around them. Here we are with a 100 year old Enfield Rifle
, the creme of the bolt actions in 1890, still sprouting thoroughly useful and usable variations, in another century completely, and an era when whole firepower concepts have been born, served and retired.
I think they are both deserving of a knighthood for services to hope and glory.
