Ah ha!!! Now that makes sense. Any ideas how much a wrapped FTRed No.4 Mk.1 might fetch in the US? I somehow get the idea they might be rarer than wrapped No.4 Mk.2s, but I have no idea. I wouldn't want to do the seller out of a fair price, but I have no idea in this case.

Wrapped rifles have been a hot subject all over the net this week. LOL The mice took the pleasure of un-wrapping out of my hands some time in the last twenty years. I opend a storgage box in my shed two years ago and found a stinky nest of soiled paper. But I posted that before. I think a wrapped FTR would be interesting knowing the fine work done during FTR.
Small point, every wrapped rifle I have seen in the last 25 years was open where the numbers had to be taken then and again where the import stamp was put. Just a thought.

Luckily, the unwrapped MkIIs brought into Canada
, weren't opened. We have to register the rifles but they accept the tag numbers.

Re the wrapped Mk1 FTR's, I've just been informed that the corner of the polythene sack thinggy was always(?) cut across showing where the bag was vacuumed out THEN sealed. But I've been informed that the vacuum seal lasted about 5 minutes or until it developed a leak where it was mishandled by the non-too careful Ordnance wallahs. Rifles sealed for the tropics have a charge bag of silica-gel inside.

Does this rifle have import marking? 1970 is past the import law, but they may have been warehoused for some time.

From what the person has said, the wrapping is intact. That is all I know. Now all I have to do is work out a fair market price and see what is in the piggybank lol.
