Hi Dave-usgicollector,
I also have a Inland with the Underwood flip sight.
I don't feel the rear sight was finished on the receiver/barrel as a unit, like Inland did on the earlier models.
This was my 2nd carbine. I had a Michigan State Police Forensic Technician look it over on his micro-scope thingy. We were finishing up their new Forensic Lab. They weren't open for 'business' yet so he was more than happy to look at it.
This was before I knew about Underwood shipping to Inland the following:
12-28-43....4000 rear sight leafs
4-3-44.......5394 rear sight leafs
4-3-44.......2233 rear sight assemblys
At the time I was wondering if the sight could have been original to this carbine. It was of his opinion that the metal base between the dovetails showed movement to the left only. There were no signs of the base metal being scarred or dis-rupted back to the right. He felt strongly that it had never been removed and pointed out where the chisel type stake marks showed fresh metal. The staking had 'cut' thru the parkerized finish.
Mine is Inland 5,061,238 also original, except I put the nicest stock on it I could find at the time. Please take into account that this stock was freshly oiled when these pictures were taken, with flash and overhead lighting.

Let me know if you need specific pics. These were taken with my older camera. It's covered with a light coat of grease, but would gladly clean it off for up dated pictures.
Also Thanks for sharing yours. I've heard about others but yours is the first I've got to see.
Any way you could list a parts run down?
Just curious since these were near a transitional point.
Here's a Underwood flip sight base to compare,

Here's some pictures of the 5,061,238/ barrel date 3-44......
Zoom up to 200% and look at the overhead view of the rightside of the rear sight and bolt. You'll be able to see the chisel stake mark better. Also zoom in on the last picture to see the staking better.
Note that the flip sight's leaf pin is blued. The camera flash makes it looked parked.

Charlie,
Off the top of my head, I filled out the Data sheet a while ago but, never sent it in. I have a stack I need to mail, but always forget to take them to the P/O. Mine only has a couple differant parts than yours. I have a F.I. trigger and the A over S ( formerly PI in a Pendent )(spelling?)T2 band. The info on theese bands was covered in the last CC newsletter. Everthing else is the same from what I remember. PM me your email and I will send you a bunch more pics.

I have a similar serial#, 5020637 in a .U. check and test stock that has a
Rock Ola flip rear sight. Leftovers from mid '44 termination parts inventory? I believe it
to be a transition gun. T2 round bolt, T2 PI in triangle band, T5 slide and a low
wood Inland marked stock with .U. stamped on left side.
