Warning - Fake No.32 MkIII on eBay

Dear All the No32 scope came today in the mail and there are differences !!!!!
although the scope is marked as a MK2 it's not !!! it's a MK1 and the cross hairs are thicker than my original mk1 also the screw threads are metric not BA and last of all the lens have a deep bluish tinge (they are not coated) compared to the clear originals.
Looking through the optics they are very sharp and gather light well at night compared to my original which has been fully serviced by field optics here in Australia it's just not as clear !!!! keeping in mind that it's over 69 years old.
if you look at one of the pictures you will see an Australian 20cent piece which has two of the same screws on it from the range drum mounting plate the original screw is longer but the diameter is the same.
getting to the point ,,,if you are after a copy it's not too bad and looking at the quality ,well it's not quite as good as the original in the way it's been put together,but optically it's great and would be very nice to shoot with.
there are other differences which you will see in the photos. like the back lens retainer ring it's missing the two slots and the markings are engraved in the scope tube not roll stamped like the originals were.
Also please be advised that I wanted to post bigger images but this site won't allow it and I would have had to use photo bucket and they have a bad habit of removing images.

So it has elevation adjustments in 50yd increments, and 2 MOA windage adjustments?

Can you see how well it "shoots the square" or some other repeatability test?

yes it's clicks are 2 moa the same as the original MK1's also I only received the scope about 3 hours ago so I haven't had a good chance to add that to the original post but will do so very soon

The general appearance reminds me of this mystery No32 MkII which turned up on eBay in Italy a few years back.

It almost looks like the CTH logo on there, but I can't be sure.

Does anyone have further info on these?

I have since mounted the scope and moved the rectical in both directions and found it to be as good as my original MK1 scope,and it's in 2 mins of angle,the same as the original

Another one now listed, at least he is saying 'new made' but whether anyone will actually pick up on it is debatable.

Using the same pictures as before - the scope number in the pics is 17038 but the blurb says it's 17039. I suppose there's a market for them, given their general rarity, althouhg I suppose it might undermine the prices of genuine ones somewhat. Glad to see they've admitted it's a 'new build' but it's worth pointing out the same sellers were earlier claiming they didn't know if it was a new item or not (although they presumably had some idea when they ordered them!). I wonder if any further batches will correct the flaws pointed out here earlier...

The good thing about this scope and their general availability is that it gives a beginner a fighting chance of making up a good, reasonably cheap, competitive, look-a-like No4T with which to compete with the big boys with their real McCoys. And good luck to them.

It reminds me of a conversation a year or so ago with some civilian tank owners who scoffed at the notion that anyone would even admit to owning a Centurion. As for it being a recovery vehicle to boot, well............., I thought that they wanted the earth to open up (well, it would if they were bogged in on Hohne ranges.......). But, like No4T's, there are only SO many genuine Churchills and Shermans.

Anyway you novices wanting to compete with the No4T owners, the telescopes are now available (and cheaper too but watch the prices tumble.....) as are superb and even half decent brackets. As indeed is the wherewithall to convert a half decent No4 ti 'T' spec if you follow the instructions published recently. Attem boys.............

Hi All,

Just found another fake scope from the same seller on Ebay, its also listed as new and it has the same configuration. Its an Mk1 tube, an Mk3 engraving and an eyeshade is atached.

I am the guy that bought the scope that has you guys all talking......It really looks great on my rifle!!! But I spoke to Brian Dick at BDL Ltd, and he looked at the pics and said that it is a fake. I am going to send it to him to look at as soon as i get a chance and make an officail determination.
As far as the New auction with the same scope in it ....The seller informed me that when the scope did not sell the first time he set it up to relaunch at a later date. Mean while I purchased it. He never cancelled the new auction. He was very apologetic.
Even though I gambled and lost(the way things are looking), the scope really does look like a quality piece.
