new to enfields......what did i just get?

i know some enfield basics, but not a whole lot more. excited to learn however. i just picked this up for $200. can you guys help me in understanding what i've got here.......what might still be original, and what's been replaced? it's cut a mag cutoff, but a few of the screws are missing or need replaced. all the numbers match.....except possibly the stock. there's a number near the nosecap on the underside but it's very hard to make out.

What an old trooper.

Rebarreled in '36 and something done at Enfield in 1946 from the obvious stamps.

Bolt is an obvious renumber and unless done in India, it doesn't look like a service job IMO.

The bolt, nosecap and rear sight markings all seem to have been done at the same time, but no telling at this point who did it, except to say that, as Surpmil notes, it was well after WWI. I think it was done again after 1936 as well. One oddity is the serial numbered magazine, that isn't common on No.1 Mk.3* rifles, or any of the other SMLEs.

You will find that it's tough to find an "untouched" WWI vintage SMLE, they (mostly) saw two wars worth and more of hard usage.

And the metal seems to be in good shape; how's the bore? If that's nice too, then certainly, for $200 you got a great deal! (well in my part of the world anyways)

It appears that in your part of the world- about $200... Some would pay more, but probably not many are going to get one comparable for much less.
That said, somebody will promptly find it's twin for $100! Don't worry about it- its a nice "experienced" rifle. They surely don't seem to be decreasing in value!

I'd say, just from my little bit of acquiring knowledge, it was worth $200 bucks. But like many have said, and I'm beginning to believe, what is it worth to you? Good find!!
