We can't see anything. You need to show us the bayonet blade. There are many forgeries of that pattern, but I have seen originals. I don't know what the other one is.

here are some more photos; the only other markings i find are '88' under the wood grips in the first photo & of course 'slaz 43' on the wood grip.

It's still hard to tell from these pics, the things you are looking for are out of place welding or brazing or grinding marks. It looks OK in these pics but they're not very clear. I would definitely want more and clearer if it were on Ebay...

there are no welding/brazing or grinding marks; the steel on the blade looked odd to me. sorry, i cant figure out how to take better close up pictures with my camera. i thought i remembered reading (cant find that ref now) that the serial numbers on these started with 3000; this was another reason i was wondering if it were fake, what would be the chances of me getting a hold of the 3rd machette in the run?

Apparently they made somewhere around or a bit more than 5000 of these. From what I can tell the scabbard looks correct and if the blade looks un-messed with it's worth quite a bit. Like I say, I've seen them but not often and not cheap. If you were selling, try Gunauction.com

you have exactly the same chance of gettign 3 as 303 or 3003. 1 in 5000! I have never understood peoples fascination with low numbers etc. except when these are kept for presentation any number is just as likely as any other, this is true for everything but the Lottery in which any number I pick is the least likely to be drawn ;-)
