Pawn shop Springfield M1 Garand.
I went by the local pawn shop this AM. and spotted a Garand
on the rack. After giving it a visual once over I determined that; no import stamp, nice bore, DOD [P] marked stock, all Springfield parts. There was some minor pitting under the wood. They had it marked at $799 and I ended up getting it for $700 OTD. SN#2606542 Springfield Feb. 1944 production. The barrel is Springfield 10-46 SA Bolt is D282827 12-SA, Op rod is D35382-9 SA, Trigger assembly is D28290-12 SA milled trigger guard, hammer is C46008 5 SA, right front leg is D28291 32 SA. The stock and handguards are walnut and the stock has the DOD eagle and 3 stars and [P] under pistol grip. Included was a bayonet and sheath: 6 1/2 inch blade, DOD eagle, marked IMPERIAL, H.S. M-5. The sheath is U.S. M-8 BM-60. A nice olive green sling was also part of the deal with one clip marked D. A. Q. Will post pics later.
