I have noticed that the bulk of American-made .303 ammunition in the lower price-ranges seems to be loaded with the flat-based bullets which are so greatly preferred by the Enfield rifling.
Where I seem to run into those pesky darned boat-tails is in the 'premium' ammo.
'Everybody knows" that boat-tails are better, therefore they are worth the extra money.
Our old Lee-Enfields were made before the development of modern BT bullets, for the most part, and THEY don't know that. So we feed them what they prefer: flat-base. Cheap. Better groups, too.
Really nice thing is that if you are handloading, nearly all the bulk bullets and the Sierras and Speers both are available, along with the Hornadys, in flatbase types. You have to get into the Match bullets to find the (shockingly) expensive boat-tails. BTW, Partizan makes only BTs, so careful there. They are great for Rosses and Brens, though!Information
