Anybody else have a Drill rifle?
My Uncle gave me a P-14 that is marked DP, drill purpose. I gave the rifle to my Brother. It has a hole drilled through the chamber and barrel. Can this rifle be made to shoot again?
Sort of a shame to just use it as a wall hanger. Aye Kay.

Is the hole through the receiver as well? If so, it is a hanger. If not, get a new barrel, and have a knowledgeable gunsmith install it.

Thank you RBruce. I've found a little more info here doing the search. I think the hole is just through the receiver. I'll have to go to my Brother's to check it out, I haven't even thought about it till I saw this forum.
I remember putting a dowel rod down the barrel to check if the firing pin was still there. It was...
I saved my Uncles bacon. He was on his way out the door to go shoot the rifle. I caught him on his porch and looked the rifle over. The hole through the barrel caught my eye, then I saw the DP stamps all over it. He gave me the rifle for stopping him from shooting it. I saw the post where they shot a drill rifle yesterday, man, that would have hurt.
Thanks again, and if anyone can steer me towards a good place to buy a barrel that would be appreciated as well. Cheers, Aye Kay.

From Chuck in Denver in an earlier post:
contact Krieger barrels, they have a sister company, Criterian {spelling} that makes a nice 1917 and P14 barrel.
remember one real important thing...
its a Felony to ship a barrel to Aus, and other places in Europe.
check the customs laws,..
however, its not against the law to ship them from there to the US...laws....sometimes they just don't make sense.

Apologies on reviving an old post. I have a P14 that is DP marked, that has been re-barrled. It shoots like a dream. Picked it up for a trade item, had it inspected, and then fired it...no probs

shipping a barrel to some countries is just like shipping a rifle.
i have a importer here in Co, iv been dealing with, to ship a 1903 barrel to Germany
, he had to do the same paper work as if he were sending a complete rifle.
no....Kreiger will not ship outside the US. they are not and importer exporter.

I had one of the drill rifles about 20 yrs. ago. Mine had a pin welded through the hole to make attempting to shoot it impossible. Had it rebarrelled to .458 Win. Mag. A friend has one in .50-110 WCF. What a cannon. Be careful removing the old barrel, most of the time it requires a relief cut about 1/8 in. deep where the bbl. tightens against the receiver. Otherwise you can easily twist the receiver and ruin it.
