    Where did everybody go?

I've pretty much been away for almost 3 years (caught the black rifle disease) and just now getting back to my WW2 era babies. Seems like there used to be lot more activity and people on the old CSPicon forums, or is it just my imagination? (you know, the "good old days" syndrome).

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. I think that when CSPicon had their hardware/software meltdown a bunch of folks went away and never found their way back. Gun Talk seems to have come back but the Carbine forum has never recovered. Of course, a lot of those folks ended up here and never looked back.

Seems that the everyone filtered in different directions when the meltdown happened. I ain't in for all that loud, bustle, tustle, insulting and elbowing on other sites... kinda like a big city subway. I kinda like it here... nice and quiet... like the easy suburbs and country living... kinda like sitting on the front porch in a rocking chair, nice cool drinking to sip on, dogs under the porch... M-1 carbine across the lap.... oh, sorry, got caught up in how nice and EASY GOING it is here....

I am a relatively new guy here....

since Gunsnet went away. I bounce from gun forum to forum and try to participate in each one. I just got back from a month long camping trip out west so I have not been here lately. Upon my return, I had a few issues with my computer so I took it to Comp USAicon for a free checkup and they killed it. They would not own up to it either.

The golden age of C&R is past. No longer are C&R guns available at cheap prices, unless you are very lucky. If I had to buy my small collection now days, I could not afford it. I am glad I stocked up on ammo when it was cheap. chris3

We had a discussion a year or so ago about how boring it has become - just not much happening here. The old Culvericon site had a lot more arguing and typical gun forum feistiness. I suppose most of us don't really miss the trolls and dummies we used to get, but they sure did keep things stirred up! Who was that notorious troll that called EVERYTHING 'fake'? I used to look forward to his posts - he gave us all something to rail against at first but after a while he sort of became part of the group, in a weird way.

Nawwww, I don't know enough about the carbines yet to declare something as a fake... I just know how to stir the pot enough to make you question your own sanity. Really, I don't mind a good argument sometimes. But I did have to stop arguing with myself - I kept losing...
