Post the link on the CMP
Forum. Folks over there are enthusiastic about Carbines and Garands.
When in doubt, that's what I do and have never been steered wrong.

Whoa whoa whoa!
There are a whole bunch of true collectors here. CMP
has a bunch but it's also overrun by hordes of wannabes who've read a book and now consider themselves experts.
Both sites will give you info, but by all means never discount this one! It's slower, granted, but it also doesn't have a few hundred wannabes just wanting to type something.

+1. This is the BEST Carbine forum. I know NOTHING about collecting, and always defer to the experts here. When it comes to making your carbine function and matters of maintaining, I can be of some help, but leave "Collectables" to experts.
As for the band, my observation is that the picture does not give enough information to judge. Putting it on a real wrapper is a common tactic of humpers. The head on profile likes better than the obvious repros, but still have as Sherlock Holmes would say "Insufficient data."

That seller is a long way............................................... ..
from being a 'Humper'.
Look the now cancelled auction over again.........
Take a look who the bidder was.
Very doubtful that bidder was fooled.
More than likely the part was bought off line.

Look over his feedback. You'll see many forum members from here including myself that have had numerous dealings with this seller on Ebay (in the old days) and on GB.
Items ARE what he says they are.
