You have bought a Cugir manufactured military training rifle most likely used by a youth organization. On the net they are often referred to as the "1956 Model" but I think earlier dates have been reported. Yours would be a 1957 build.
These rifles were often WELL used and many were sold here with bores that were ruined by cleaning rods. Many are also counterbored at the muzzle. I've spotted a couple that had bulged barrels. Reports of washed out chambers, peined chambers and dark bores (they were used with steel cased, corrosive ammunition) are numerous.
Some were sold without rear sights and I've seen two types of sliding rear sights. There are reports of a fixed rear sight (dovetailed?), but I've not seen one. Century sold some off with missing bolts.
The few good bores in shooters' hands have been reported as shooting accurately and this should not be surprising considering how well many of the M1969 Cugir-built repeaters shoot.
Dunham Sports sold the Century import version of these rifles for around $75 IIRC.
Spare parts are difficult to come by.
A few decent example were imported and I hope you found a keeper.

I also have a Curgir single shot marked "UMC Curgir" on the top of the receiver and dated 1955. The barrel on mine seems heavier and shorter than the picture and the stock is a light blond color. All parts are on it except for a front sight hood although there are recesses on both sides of the sight base where one could be attached. It shoots well even though it has a slight buldge about 8" down the inside of the barrel and is only noticeable when a patch is run through.
Mine has a trigger pull adjustment hole on the right side of the stock under the bolt handle. I believe from the photo it appears that yours also does.

I am still looking for a rear sight to finish mine off. It is a nice rifle.
