Springfield 1922 M2 Help
Hello all. New here. I hope i came to the right place. I recently inherited my father's Springfield 1922 M2 that he said was given to him from my grandfather. His cousin however took off the rear sight assembly and tapped the receiver for scope rings. Yeah I'm a lil POed. Anyhow. Can anyone tell me a lil about the rifle?
Markings are M2 on the bolt assembly, forward of the bolt is stamped US Springfield Armory Cal .22 M2 2XXX. Just before the front sight is SA Flaming Bomb (Ordinance?) 3-33. Uncovered front sight.
Can anyone offer a place where i can get a rear sight assembly and some mags?
Thank you.

Welcome. The rear sight is a Lyman 48C. There are two types of Lyman 48C as there is a short base and a long base. You need the long base Lyman 48C type to be proper.
I had a 1922 rifle with the short base on it and I just bought a long base type and paid 150.00 for it which was a excellant price. Bought it at a gunshow.
The orginal 1922M2 magazines are pricey at least 125.00. You will need the magazine marked with a "M2" on it. The other "M1" magazine is slightly too short but the "M1" magazine are not marked "M1". I did have a aftermarket magazine that would not fit in either of my two 1922M2 rifles. I just gave it back to the magazine dealer this weekend.
I may have couple "M2" magazines for sale as I just bought a 1922M2 with three magazines. But I haven't seen them yet as the rifle just came into the FFL Dealer and I haven't picked it up yet.
I have the Lyman 48C short base sight also.

I don't know about the rear sight assembly, but you see the original mags come up for sale on Gunbroker from time to time. Make sure you get originals, marked M2. Also, be forewarned that they don't run cheap!

Got in contact with Gary Fellers. It was late last night so I have to call him back. Ill make sure to ask him if its a long base.
As far as mags go. SARCO has them in stock. Is there one manufacture that operates better than another?

My luck has ran that if orig. they will work 100% , if aftermarket they give problems 100% . Can't really say if that's good luck or bad. Ran into a guy who had just sold his only m2 , and the buyer did not want any spare mags. Bought his six origs. for $300 , so I don't worry about the aftermarket ones anymore.

My M2. I've had it for about 40 years.

A very nice M2, but you must know that it is not completely original in that the rear sight is a post-war style replacement made with square-bottom slide, different knobs, and coil-spring providing slide lock.

What sling did the 1922 come issued with? Still searching for M2 magazines.
