Ruth states the opinion that NPM was the best followed by Underwood, then Quality. This was based on a number of things. NPM was the only company to survive the "rain test" which stopped every other carbine. This could have something to do with overall finish. I have a NPM and an original Winchester in very good condition. The NPM is much better finished than the Win. The major NPM parts are the receiver, IBM barrel and trigger housing. After reading about Quality and their engineering and manufacturing prowess, I'm interested in seeing one of theirs. As far as utility, they are all good.
