M73b scope question
How do you replace a knob on the scope. I have this scope that I had for sale on a couple of boards for about a week for what I thought was a fairly reasonable price, a lot of lookers but no offers. A bit surprised, as I know these scopes are in high demand, not even someone wanting to deal. But apparently because one knob has been replaced with an incorrect earlier pattern windage knob there is no interest.
Is it a big problem to replace the incorrect knob on it?

Ray. i would relist it on eBay. Considering all that you were including - base, rings, scope and a set of 7/8" rings the price, IMO was quite reasonable.
In terms of replacing the knob the biggest problem would be finding a spare. i have never taken one of these apart so i can't advise on how to replace it. Perhaps another foum member can help.
I have looked through my scope picture collection and i believe the correct knob style for that serial number range (in a perfect world) is the flat knob w/o the little zeroing screw on the scale.

Jim

Thanks Jim,
Chuck, by keeper, do you mean the plate or the spring part on top that has a screw in it and puts pressure on both the knobs? Ray

Ray....DO NOT remove the forward most screw...If loosened, there is a small rectangular plate under it that will spin & cut the crosshairs....Follow Chucks directions, and just SLIGHTlY loosen the second screw that holds down the flat V spring..then pivot it out of the way..Don't need to totally remove the spring......My warning only applies to the small screw in front of it......

if you remove the eye adjust lens, you can hold that little nut from moving with a finger,,,careful...a finger will poke those hairs out just as fast,,,i know,, i did it..lol.

You guys are scaring me. think I'll just list it on either eBay or gunboards as it is. The buyer can change the knob if they want. Thanks anyway for the instructions, Ray
