What is the 'correct' stock for a Rock-Ola w/ Serial Number 6212XXX?
I've seen a few threads on this topic. What I'm wondering is, using your experience (plus knowledge of the popular books as well) - what's the correct stock for my Rock-Ola with this S/N?
For example, Canfield's book mentions an I cut 'could be'. C. Reisch's book mentions a Type 3 Oval Cut (which shows low wood). I've seen a thread on this site possibly suggesting that an oval cut high wood might be - for this S/N range.
I'm trying to put a stock on the carbine that knowledgable collectors would consider correct. Can I get some opinions ('again')? I'm sorry, I should have tagged some of the other threads from this site!
Thanks

Rokwell,
Here's a link to a past post, where I had asked about RMC stocks.
I'd guess with your serial number....... any of the 3 could have been possibly found on it.

Rock Ola's use of the I cut stock?

Thanks, that is useful! Which would be more desirable from a collecters viewpoint?
I've got an I cut with a fairly clear 'RMC' & ord. wheel cartouche on right and RMC in sling well, it's been modified to low wood by arsenal rebuild 'SAA 2' marking if I remember right, as well as AIE w/ P on pistol grip. The cartouches look correct per all the forum threads here plus book photos, etc.
Would you stay with the I cut, or go with an oval cut 2 high wood (a type 2?) with correct cartouches that has no evidence of being put throught a rebuild (no P on pistol grip, no rebuild markings)?
Or as Wulf says, a T3 (oval cut, presumably low wood). And having said that I don't have a line on one that I know of that I'd be using!

Personally, I find a cut down I cut to be almost valueless. Maybe for a shooter.

Your serial number is almost at the end of production in the last block of numbers. I would say the type 3 stock would be the more likely one used.

Thanks! If possible I will try to find a decent T3 stock for it. Not having much luck yet.
