Careful everyone - discussion about what the law does and does not mean is ok, but as much as I hate the UN, treading too much int the political side of this news is against forum rules and I don't want to have to invigilate this thread.

Союз нерушимый республик свободных Сплотила навеки Великая Русь. Да здравствует созданный волей народов Единый, могучий Советский Союз!
On the serious side some institutions should go extinct. You know it is ludicrous to ban a firearm or cartridge on the premise of military numbers. Then I guess ammo makers will have to stop making some of the military cartridges and make them in the sporting versions. Change the numbers and make everyone happy.

I was just looking through the FAQ, but I couldn't find any reference to what subjects are permitted and which are not
Could someone post a link to same or reproduce here?
Heaven knows I don't want to engage in any "bad speak", though I can't promise not to engage in "bad-think".![]()
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”
Edward Bernays, 1928
Much changes, much remains the same.
IMO, it is more the UK(& Canadian
) residents who tend to pooh-pooh the impact and significance of this incrementalism. The American people strike me as armed to the teeth and proportionally, remarkably well informed about what is going on and why.
And as for implementing UN regulations as law without the approval of Parliament, the UK government tried last fall and was shot down by the new "Supreme" (no longer merely "High") Court. I forget the specific issue, but someone will remember no doubt.
They'll be back!

When I see heavy handed comments like this with implied THREATS I start giving serious thought to asking for a refund of my contribution and exiting stage left.
I STRONGLY suggest that you look up the definition of POLITICS instead of this demanding that the rest of us kowtow to YOUR definition of the word!
They are different bodies. The Supreme Court has replaced the Law Lords sitting in the House of Lords as the "highest court in the land". The High Court (High Court of Justice) is below it in Englandand Wales.
Good morning John …
Easy now partner …
Ron (Claven2) is just doing his job, it's not personal and he's simply enforcing the site rules.
When a visitor first signs up to become a Registered Member of the Military Surplus Collectors Forums, they responded "I AGREE" to an on-line contract (click here), in order to become a Registered Member. Unfortunately, this agreement never appears anywhere on the system after that, so just in case anyone ever needs to reference what they agreed to, here is the contract that's been acknowledged:
I do understand your sensitivity to perceived censorship, but it has absolutely nothing to do with that. Actually, if the truth be told, you and I would probably stand shoulder to shoulder and agree on 99.9% of any political rhetoric and discussions if permitted to be posted here, but that's not the mandate of our site, which is supposed to be purely about collecting old milsurps and enjoying a hobby we all love.Forum Rules (click here)
Registration to Military Surplus Collectors Forums is free! This site is designed to encourage the open exchange of information amongst the general military surplus collector community, thereby helping all of our members to better enjoy their chosen hobby. I have read, and agree to abide by the Military Surplus Collectors Forums rules.
There are enough other gun sites on the Internet with publicly accessible forums (you don't have to even register) which are about politics, Obama, Muslims, immigration, ugly looking women democrats and other silly nonsense, often generated by the same un-moderated loose cannons sharing their frustrations in the same sandbox. That stuff can spread like wildfire and destroy the unity of a site (except for the chosen few) very quickly, so I simply don't want to see it get any kind of foothold here.
I was personally disappointed to see you express your desire to leave our site and go elsewhere, as you do help and provide a lot of information to old and novice collectors alike, which I know is appreciated, however, if you feel strongly enough about the need to vent politically here and that's a barrier to you enjoying everything else we offer, then you will be missed.
This particular post is now closed. I felt that although it was referencing rules about governments trying to control firearms and was a little on the border of a political discussion, that it's content posted by Brian Dickwas valuable and important for the community to understand in relation to some categories of old milsurps and how it could affect their collecting hobby with the inability to import and export vis-a-vis the U.S.
That point has been made and it's apparent to me that as always happens and the reason we have the no politics rule in the first place, this thread is heading toward becoming loaded with vitriol and highly divisive, so it ends here …
Thanks Brian.. on behalf of the entire membership, notwithstanding how it ended, we do appreciate the heads up posting of this thread.
Regards,
Doug
