Art Tuttle was John Garands trouble shooter and problem solver. He worked directly with Garand to work out the problems with the design and operation of the original M1 rifle, beginning with the gas trap design up into the gas port rifles. He is quoted extensively in Billy Pyle's book "The Gas Trap Garand". Art probably knew more about the original Garands than anyone except John Garand himself.
