Some detail shots, since I'm fooling around fixing broken photobucket links. I'll abuse your sensibilities some more! I think most of these were on pg 3, but the posts had no text, so I deleted them. Added descriptions this time, so I hope y'all aren't too annoyed.
Lowest practical stock setting. Works fine w/ the original irons, if installed.

A high scope mount setting for use w/ HUGE optics:

Attachment interface. Really, it's too wide, but I narrowed it at least twice. Will rethink this some on the next go. Serrations are 10 per inch:

If you look carefully, you will note that the rear sight and the rear sight base were both lightened. It adds up, but lots of time, ciphering and cutting required!

I even hogged out the innards of the adapter. the stock assembly actually ended up weighing. w/in a few ounces of a GI standard stock.

Getting started on Gen 2 Frankenrifle this week, so more horrors await!

A very nice rifle indeed! You can certainly be proud of that build.
What I admire most about the M14
platform is that adapts so well to new generation fittings like sights and stocks and still does it job so well.

One of these days I'll try and get some slow-mo video of the rifle in action. A friend has some gear that might make something that at least somewhat interesting to watch. Our first attempt was too poor in resolution to post, but still showed improved effectiveness over a stock set-up.
Might put an EOtech or Aimpoint back on, instead of that "dollar-two-ninety-eight" cheapie scope shown. Too many projects!
Oh, ordered another Enidine "recoil reducing" stock extention this week. I'm sorely tempted to get a JAE stock as well (Don't ask what fate awaits it!
), but gotta let the funds rebuild a bit.

I don't think I'll be doing anything like that to mine. But if that is what trips you trigger it's OK with me.

Well, if this venture doesn't suit you, here's one that went the other way- wood handguard, very early stock w/Garand
buttplate , mated to a mostly TRW collection of metal bits.

I cant Say I like it, but then again it is Kinda Cool at the same time
As stated earlier it is yours to do with as you please
a month back I tried selling a Correct HRA Restore well below market value on several forums, the low ball offers I received Irritated and Insulted me SO much . I would tie it to the bumper of my car and drag it down the Hi Way before I ever let it go that cheap.
So I going to Give it to a Friend next weekend . Yes I said Give it

Yah, but it's still mostly in my head. Bought a "Hueygunner" carbon fiber stock, but I'm not sure it'll get modded. Just investigating the the tech. Also ordered a McMann Carbon fiber stock, w/ a request for a reduced LOP, but it might be six months before anything shows up!
Bedding methods and barrel options are being pondered at this point. Also whether to make any permanent mods to the receiver in order to incorporate a dedicated optics platform. I'm not sure it's worth retaining the old sights at all.
Also, there's some rambling about the new project on the Milsurps Blog:
