Companies did that back then.
I have one , "Men and volts at war - the story of General Electric in world war II " by John A. Miller , copywrited 1947 by Whittlesey House. They were into a lot of stuff , and they wanted the story told before it got lost. The work on the bazooka is well known , but they were the ones who made our hand grenades the world's most reliable. They were also the ones who figured out how to use thier Christmas tree light factory to turn out proximity AA fuses at 1/8 the price and , more importantly , in volume. Lots of backroom involvement in different areas.

I have a copy of the book and have a relationship to it as my father was the head of the photographic department at Saginaw Steering Gear at the time this book was published and he was responsible for the pictures in the book. The government required a lot of pictures in those days.
I also worked at the "GunPlant" for over thirty years and was intimately familiar with the machine gun test range, which in my days was used for machine parts storage.
I am also anxiously awaiting the arrival of another book published about Saginaw Steering Gear in 1944 entitled "One Million Browning Maching Guns" which I finally found on ebay.
