Any one remember this older post on how some of the early QHMC flip sights were staked to the receiver?
Beautiful Bringback, question is, how rare?

Large X; around 4,800,000 and later
Large O; before 4.8 million
HOW could anything carbine-related be that simple? The X is QHMC specific and there are many UN-QUALITY (1944) carbine sights which got the X

As Charlie mentioned in the link he gave above...please see carbine club newsletter #334. Lots of great information on known original Quality Hardwares.

Ah, so the club database must categorize UNQ distinct from QHMC as both reported 4.4 million carbines were X staked. Learned something new today, thanks!
Now who staked them, Quality or their subcontractor who supplied the sights?

Qhmc… latest project it had an adjustable rear sight but since it has been removed you can see the round stake marks that I believe are an example of the discussion. The flip sight that is on it is not correct that's why I asked you guys about the one on Ebay. It also had a bayonet barrel band that has been changed as well. My dilemma here is the color variation from where the bayo band covered the barrel. Any suggestion on how to deal with that and not take away from the integrity of the piece.
I know I’m on thin ice with the last question. I can hear it cracking under my feet.

This pulled from the old link I posted earlier in this thread,
The rounded S flip sight, with no markings on the right side, was reported from 1582xxx to 1645375, and also on 1896528.
I'm lucky enough to have on file a photo album of a friends collection of documented carbines.
He's a long time member and contributor to the Carbine Club.
FWIW,
While looking over some of his QHMC carbines I found;
1,567,xxx No mark on right base, Left side marked with SQ S... Pin round staked.
1,607,xxx No mark on right base, Left side marked with round S... Pin round staked.
1,930,xxx GE-Q round S. Pin round staked.
UNQUALITY 4,4xx,xxx GE-Q Round S. Pin round staked.
UNQUALITY 4,44x,xxx GE-Q Round S. Pin round staked.
All of the above have the flip sights chisel staked to the dovetails.
All of the above have front sight pins staked with the large circle stake mark.
Hercules Powder,
Biggest concern when trying to replace a Type III band is if it's left wear marks from the inner pads along with the Dis-coloration. When doing so most of the time I've heard the barrel would have to be bead blasted and reparked. Chuck In Denver may have some tips. You could find his contact info by sifting thru the members list.
The punch/crater type stake marks from rear adjustable sights makes restoring one back to looking original nearly impossible.
Respectfully,

That's weird, I wonder what happened. Both 4458519 and 4435149 UN-QUALITY carbines (listed "Manufacturer: Quality H.M.C.") were reportedly X staked (CCNL #186).

Because they were assemled after QHMC made the switch from the O staking to the X staking.
