Gentlemen. The description of the Savage #4MK 1* was correct. Savage didn't really care about documentation when they went bankrupt about 25 years ago and sold alot of stuff out of their factory. The rifle is now in the hands of one of the biggest and knowledgeable #4 collectors in the US so I am told.

Apparently, someone with a lot of money to spend....

How can any description, simply made up by anyone with no documentation to support the claim, be considered "correct'?

The old expression of "buy the rifle, not the story" applies here...

Sorry, with no documentation to support the seller's claim, it's just an overpriced Savage Enfield without a serial number. There are several Long Branches floating around like that as well, so I guess they could be salesman's showroom samples too.

There's an "unfired" new condition No.4 Mk1* Savage on display in the Knowledge Libraryicon, so it's value has just jumped considerably.

    Regards,
    Badger
