Interesting comments. I take it that people think Joe Salter isn't telling the truth concerning his descriptions. If you read the site, you will find that he has a 100% guarantee concerning his sales without any questions asked on any returns- lets see that in Canada
, he describes his descriptions conservatively and as accurate as possible, also he won't ship to Canada. Not everything has documentation.

Well partner, I'm sure we all appreciate your feedback and it's apparent you feel Joe is an excellent source to buy from.
Joe is a very nice individual and this isn't personal about him. It's simply observations made by more than a few folks here, who have watched his on-line business for many years.
He does ship to Canada because I'm a customer and have bought from him in the past. He has even advertised regularly in the Canadian Access to Firearms paper, using his Canadian company's moniker, Down East Trading Company, located in Nova Scotia.
Downeast Antiques & Collectibles Joseph L. Salter QC is the owner and operator of Down East Trading Company Limited, incorporated in Canada and federally licensed in all categories of firearms. The company and its predecessors Joseph Salter Antique and Collector Weapons have been actively engaged in all aspects of the firearms and collector arms business since the early 1960's. Down East Antiques and Collectibles Inc, is also incorporated in the state of Maine and New Hampshire and is actively involved in the business of antique and collector weapons in the
United States
.
Joe is known for his historically presented advertising and he's a very good salesman, but his pricing is often exorbitant compared to the general marketplace, so you had better be prepaid to pay heavily for any item and make sure you really need it for your collection. Here's a link about one of his quick flipped pieces as an example.
Tracking the provenance of a milsurp... (Click Here)
Having said that, he gets some excellent material and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from him if he had an item I needed, as long as I recognize that without any documentation, the claim is just Joe's, so as a buyer that may want to sell the same piece someday to another collector, I should be just buying the "the gun, not the story". I don't think Joe honors his 100% guarantee and undocumented historical statements about any item he sells through to subsequent buyers, which is the original reason for him placing such a premium price on any item, in this case an un-serial numbered Savage Enfield, with just a verbal provenance.
Anyway, I think we've beat this particular "Caveat Emptor" thread to death.
Thanks for your feedback... it is appreciated...
Regards,
Badger

I happen to own Hitler's K98
if anyone wants to buy it. Unfortunately it was refurbed after the war so some of the parts are not matching but I assure you, the guy I bought it from is very reputable, it was Hitler's rifle.
Asking $10k, will entertain trades.
