No 4 MKII UF55 Should I buy it?
HI All,
I'm new here and have the chance to buy a No4 MK2 UF55 A1145. It looks as if has never been fired. Stock is perfect. The finish is perfect and has no marks at all. Bore looks great. The only issue I can find is that for some reason, the three pieces that make up the safety assembly are missing. This comes from an estate sale of someone who passed away and the family has no information on it. It also comes with the bayonet and scabbard. What would be a reasonable price to expect to pay for it in the described condition?
Thanks in advance!

I have seen unfired rifles still in the wrap sell for $750 to $1000
Those unwrapped but unfired have been in the $500 to $750 range
This is based on sold rifles at auction in the USA
over the last 2 years.
The safety pieces are available from ssporters.com and will probably cost you under $20
Posting pictures is always the best way to get the best estimate of value.

Thanks for the fast reply! I don't have any pictures as of yet but have personally inspected it. I can purchase it for $350. Does that seem like a fair deal?
Thanks

That would be a good price especially if its in unfired condition

Perhaps one of these "unwrapped"?
Check this MKL

Oh I'm buying it! Just wanted to check and see what others thought. It will go perfect alongside my M1
Garand and M1 Carbine!

Good on you and a VERY wise move too Fireman. These are the very last No4 rifles made for the UK
Military - the last RAF/Air Ministry contract through the old Ministry of Supply. You can tell that from the then 'new' serial numbering sequence issued for UK weapons (the U part of the number) started at the ill fated and strike bound Fazakerley factory (the F in the number) commencing in the summer of 1955 (the 55 part of the number). You'll be grateful for this wise move in years to come Fireman because they ain't making no more and the very last ones, bearing the 'new' Ministry of Supply/Ordnance numbers are very probably the rarest. Enjoy!

Buy it and enjoy it! My very first Lee Enfield was No4 MK2 UF55 A15419. I bought it new in the wrap in July 2005, exactly 50 years after it was packed in cosmoline
and mummy wrapped in July 1955. Sometimes I regret having unwrapped it, but it's a damned fine shooter and a beautiful rifle. It's collector's value would be higher if it was still wrapped, but guns are made for shooting.
