Good on you and a VERY wise move too Fireman. These are the very last No4 rifles made for the UKMilitary - the last RAF/Air Ministry contract through the old Ministry of Supply. You can tell that from the then 'new' serial numbering sequence issued for UK weapons (the U part of the number) started at the ill fated and strike bound Fazakerley factory (the F in the number) commencing in the summer of 1955 (the 55 part of the number). You'll be grateful for this wise move in years to come Fireman because they ain't making no more and the very last ones, bearing the 'new' Ministry of Supply/Ordnance numbers are very probably the rarest.
