Is this 03A4 genuine?
I think this rifle is the real thing but I'd like to know for sure.

Real, but went through postwar rebuild at Rock Island Arsenal. Overpriced by about a grand with no scope or rings. Nice wood.

It's real enough. Kinda priced high for a rebuilt/refinished gun with no scope. "All serial #'s match." ?

it would be pretty tough to fake an A4...even with an engraver, it would never look right.

On the plus side of the ledger I have a database entry on this rifle, S/N 3415858, From Auction Arms December 2006. Since then nothing appears to have changed in regard to the rifles description. The pics in the current auction seem to be the same ones i saved in 2006 so it may be the same seller making a second try.
I agree the seller may have been wiser to peg the price somewhat lower, say $2800. with a reserve rather than trying to shoot the lights out with what amounts to a "buy it now" price.
The action is the real deal. The barrel date is consistent with the s/n. The scant stock wasn't original to the action 4 years ago and still isn't but was probably a switch during the rebuild.
If there is anything that's questionable it would be the stock markings. They are very crisp for a rebuild and the s/n on the stock is unusual.
Regards,
Jim

Looks sanded with mint stamps. Gotta re-think that one. Recently re-parked? I would have to see it at a show in order to pay real money for it.
