MAS 49/56,Found one.
Found a like new Mas 49/56 in the local gun shop, got it down to $300.00.
It was one of those on my list to buy,but never got it,when they came out ten or so years ago.It is in the original 7.5 Mas caliper.I already had the 1936 Mas bolt rifle, and have the dies, and boxer brass for it.You use a .308 bullet in it,7.5 is a .307 diameter. It came with a bunch of extra parts, now I will see if I can find a scope for it.I bought guns like crazy when the cold war ended,in the 1990's,and stocked up on ammo too.It was a window in time, brand new stuff from WW11,and everything else the worlds armories sold off,the good old days.Since the end of the Assault Ban in 2004,I mainly have collected assault rifles since then, they will close that window soon,I think. The prices have gone threw the roof, its been a good investment, but I bought them for the history, and I just love to go shooting. The ammo I got for pennies,to maybe a quarter, now is a buck a piece.I am quite sure my kids and coming generations will never have the chance to collect and shoot what I have.I think we have to try to get our collections grandfathered,so we can pass the "collection" down to the next generations,I never want to sell mine, and I don't want it sold off when I kick the bucket,or get sick and old,and end up in a old folks home,no guns allowed. But that is a pipe dream, maybe a couple will be kept, they will have to go to a museum to see what we have.

Or, we could start fighting back now. Your kids and grandkids should have every right to own any fire arm you own now and some! The thrill of aquirering a long sought after piece for their collections, should not be denied them. What joy is there in being grandfathered in? Knowing your the end of the line? START FIGHTING BACK!! Or turn the damn things in now! I have no shame in my collection, nor the pastime of it. I would want my kids to feel the same way, and have the opportunity to do so. If nothing else, at least stand up for their sake!
