If I was looking for a shooter K98, I'd just get a "Russian Capture" with a good bore. At least it's an honest milsurp that does have value for what it is.

There are a lot of nice stocks under the Russian shellac. You also get the satisfaction of refinishing the stock the way you want. (if you go that route, but that could a whole 'nother argument for some guys.... )
