He is another one that has turned to the dark side of the force. It is not original that's for sure and not worth the over $1600 already bid on it.

If you look at the receiver, all the nicks and gouges are the same color as the receiver. So you know it has been reparked.
As for taking your own pictures. When you put the chip into your computer to download it comes up and lets you change a whole lot of stuff.
Crop to desired size, Change brightness, change contrast, change midtones, change hues.
You can make it look anyway you want if you work at it enough. But when the buyer gets it, then you have to answer the questions.
I'm not saying don't buy from this person because some of the parts look funny to you. Something may come up that fills a spot for you. Or you plain out want it. Just keep in mind what you will need to change to make it the way you want. Then if the price works for you, maybe go for it. We have choices.

It Is What It Is!
And it is worth whatever the person who buys it is willing to pay. I have faith that the true
M1
Carbine collector community will be able to accurately document what is real and what is not for the future generations, before this sort of thing becomes prevalent. I feel for the unsuspecting purchaser if he actually believes he is buying a genuine, original as-issued WWII M1 carbine. But, if he has that kind if money to throw around without sufficient knowledge of what he is buying then he should know better and he probably won't miss the loss too much when he finds out. This is just my personal responsibility / freedom to be fooled speech and in no way do I condone the intentional misrepresentation of anything for profit. Semper Fi.

I didn't keep a serial number, but isn't that one that was up for bids a few weeks ago? Maybe its just the markings I saw before... I hate it when I forget details...
