Thanks Chuck! The Winchester barrel has enough meat but the flat threading I thought might be an issue. I think I'll take one of your suggestions and just go with a E.R. Shaw in 6.5-06. Should be a real shooter.

I have a question about the Springfield barrel threads. Aren't the flat threads mentioned, in the above quote, called Acme threads?

I'm not picking at anybody, I'm just curious and want to resolve a question, in my mind, about the correct nomenclature.

Any fact I can correctly resolve, about my 03's, is another step forward to becoming a more knowledgable forum member, and 03 owner...
