other parts. How do I find them I want as original as I can find of FAL (Argentineicon made is ok) I have an old Polytech AK47 bought pre ban but who has an AK74? A Galil?

Second I am also getting into US military rifles. here I also want origina pieces.
A Krag, A johnson etc etc. I have an M1icon and an M1 carbine and a M1903? Is there a good
reference book that can help e?

    Thanks a lot.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Newbie

    Hello all.
I look forward to learning from everyone. I have been collecting since 1985 and was introduced to military surplus rifles by a co worker. If I would have known then what I know now my collection would be so much larger. I can't complain. It's a nice collection. Like everything hindsight is 20-20.

    From Oxford, MS

Long time reader, but have not entered a post on this site. The webmaster keeps asking for a post, so here I am.

Have enjoyed shooting and hunting since I was a small boy in South Mississippi. I have watched many changes since then. Now, we have too many deer in Mississippi and Alabama. Back then we had very, very few.

I followed the usual progression of student, warrior, working dad, and philosopher. You didn't get your philosopher's certificate when you passed fifty?

I enjoy the old guns mostly; particularly Smith&Wesson revolvers. I hunt deer with an old 1976 Winchester 30-30 which I restored. Installed a Lyman tang sight with a medium-sized ghost ring on the lever action to help my old eyes. Did you notice the frequent use of the word "old?"

Also have a Springfield '03 which I got from the CMPicon program and restored. Have taken deer and hogs with it.

Have lived long enough to see a lot of changes in the shooting and hunting world over the years. Many fights have been won to protect our Second Amendment rights. On another front people have not paid as much attention. Most people live and grow up in a narrow, local environment. As Jerry Seinfeld used to say, "not that there's anything wrong with that!" But, the people have not paid attention as the government slowly gained more control over our lives and spent huge amounts of money which we do not have. (We are borrowing) People must wake up and smell the debt and the corruption. Some days I am optimistic that this will happen; other days I am not so optimistic.

The fight for Liberty is never over, because the enemies of Liberty never give up.

The link on my first post linking my last name Payne with Dr. Roger Payneicon is incorrect. While I envy his youth and collecting experiences, I am not the man. jp

There are a lot of excellent reference books. Try the usual online websites. Go to Google, Amazon.com, Barnes&Noble, etc. Sometimes, these forums will mention a particular book.

    Hello

I never posted before anywhere. I have been reading the posts on the 7.62 conversions of the M1icon. I just built one from a parts kit from Sarco. I am waiting for warmer weather to fire it. I donot have the spacer plug installed so I will see if it will feed or not. The parts are from Beretta. I collect anything that is a Military firearm. I especially like the early breechloaders but anything that goes bang is interesting to me. I was reading about some of you that are using the military guns in the woods for hunting. I started with a Polish la Transforma Mauser graduating to the 1917 Enfield to a K43. Never harvested any deer with them. So I decided that I needed to change and bought a double rifle in 3006 from Valmet. Changed my luck have harvested a great many deer with it. So I keep the others to shoot paper with. Like ubonf4 I am past 50 and my eyes are not as good as they were, I am more patient. So I can wait easier to get the better shot. I worked with a guy several years ago from Miss. and he regaled me with stories of hog, turkey and deer hunting in the area. I was envious. And a more polite individual I've never met.
Well anyway I am glad to be here and read about others who share my diseaae, as my wife calls it.
    Happy new Year.

    Newbies First Post

    Hi All,
Just completed registration, and have been accepted as a member of this forum.
I must congratulate the members involved in setting up and maintaining this forum ...it has everything i`ll ever need to know about Aussie and Britishicon manufactured .303`s and then some!, and I hope I can contribute.
This is a brief intro about me and why I`m here.....
I have recently rekindled my love/need to be involved with military weaponry after quite a few years of abstinance, and have been offered a very nice Lithgowicon No1 Mk 111,to get me back in the mood
I also own a BSA Cadet converted to 222 Rimmed, Improved ,with Monte Carlo stock, heavy barrel, worked trigger etc...and now that the "BUG" has re- bitten I`m sure there will be many more to come, there`s plenty of room left in the gun safe!
I am a member of the Kempsey branch of the SSAA and will be a regular at the Military Shoots organised by that club..
so Gooday to you all, and thanks again for a great forum.
    Three-oh.

  10. Thank You to Three-oh For This Useful Post:

    Hello fellow enthusiasts!

Happy to find another forum where the better things in life are discussed and cherished. I particularly like the metric swedes but have just started researching my DADS WW2 record; that may lead me down a different path.
