The folding stock M1A1
.30 carbine with barrel marked "Inland Div/General motors/1-43". The pistol grip bottom shows the crossed cannon ordnance escutcheon and "IO" subcontract mark. The rear of the forearm shows the circle P Proof at the rear. High wood is present at the slide cut. Bright, excellent bore with cast numbers on the folding butt. Plate included is a green cloth sling and a canvas carry case marked "Atlas awning/1943". A very nice model of 1943 U.S. carbine which has all the appearance of a bring back piece and not a recent put-together. This carbine has the original flap type rear sight and no bayonet Lug. Reference on this carbine is from collecting the M1 carbine 111 "by J.C. Harrison. Pages 164-171. A sound example that has not been cleaned and shows its obvious service usage. For the US carbine or military collector. One of approx 140,000 paratroopers built in WWII. This carbine rides in an original WWII padded canvas jump scabbard which is complete saving a small stitching repair on the top left corner of the padding. See page 211 of M1 garand and M1 carbine by Bruce N Canfield. A less than common carbine accessory. See also page 242 showing a scabbard in use. FFl or C&R

USGI..What do you think? SN Ok for the date? Cheap if correct

By no means an expert here, but just checked a few details in War Baby! - the s/n and date looks right to me. Other items that seem to agree are the (2) reliefs in the slide rail, the integral operating spring housing, the unmarked band, and the wide swivel - possibly marked UI. It looks like the real deal to me.

I think it is too...Joe sold it in under 5 minutes after posting.
My problem was the leather separation from the stock..it can only get worse. Plus I have one, about 6 months later, but I do love early carbines.
If I had the $$ available, I would have bought it..his return policy is rock solid
