The Lyman 48 , as pictured above, was THE ONE used on the Style NRA rifle (the "Springfield Sporter", as is detailed in pages 77 through 80 of "The Springfield Rifles' Era" that is sold by Brownell's as well as Scot Duff.

The Lyman 48S was a revised version introduced by Lyman in 1938 and much further revised in 1957, as detailed in pages 292 and 293 of the referenced book.

(The Lyman 48B and later 48C did not have the "turn-down peep" and were used on the Armory's target rifles, both Cal..22 and Cal..30.)
