Weaver 3-30 m.4???

I have seen a lot of interest in the m.8 330 weavers but was wondering if anyone has any info on a "3-30 scope m.4" marked weaver with a single post. It is different than all but one 330 that I have seen (cover and screws in center of tube) and the one was unmarked and believed to be made in Kentucky before the move to Texas. Is this possible any early 330, say... one of the first from El Paso? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Interesting. I had no idea there was an M4 330. Do you know anything of its history? 4-post? 8-crosshairs?

I have no history on this scope, I just bought it off of gunbroker. Are all M.8's cross-hairs? I don't want to take it apart to figure out what the cover/screws in the middle of the tube are about since the scope is optically in good shape. I have a 440 coming in that I thought I could compare it to as they are almost identical to the 330's.

There is a reproduction of a vintage 1933 advertisement showing the nomenclature with the dash "3-30" In Nick Stroebels "Old Rifle Scopes".

Somewhere i have a pic of of a "Wee-Weaver M.3-29".

It's unclear what the "M" desiganation stood for. Possibly the type of mount that was attached or the reticle. Contemporary catalogs and the few general rerences are silent on its use.

The 330-M8 has been reported with both crosshairs and posts, four different styles of markings and two different styles of adjustment knobs.
