Rusty, that was the idea when I remodeled the old 2 car garage. It was built with lumber that was salvage from other buildings that were torn down. Back in the old days they saved and reused everything. The man that homesteaded our farm put the building up to hold 2 model T or A Fords. There was a wall that seperated the garage and a room where they washed cloths and canned vegetables. I took out the wall pulled off the siding, roof and completely gutted the inside. Broke out and poured a new floor. Brought in water and phone, and updated the electric. Walled off the car doors that were in the front. I went to an Amish saw mill to get the full cut 2x's to match up with what was already there. Put in a bathroom with a shower and drywalled. New windows, the doors were saved from remodeling our house. New siding and roof, everything well insulated. The ceiling is pine car siding that I srayed with a satin clear. The moldings are pine stained hickory. When we have company it can be used as a guest house.
It's a great place to work or relax, I'm out there a lot.....Frank
