IH Garand value
I have a potential trade for my springfield M1A loaded for a matching 1953 IH garand, has a ME 2 and a TE 1 with a report from Dow firearms stating all matching and original with exception of stock , any opinions?

The stock will be both hard to find and costly if and when you do find one. How much value do you put on your M1A. If it's valued at more than $ 1200.00 I wouldn't trade. I am thinking that a nice correct IHC/IHC with a correct stock is worth about $ 1700.00. About $ 500.00 of that $ 1700.00 is the stock.
Also keep in mind that most Firearms dealers deal in many different firearms and may know something about many firearms but not a whole lot about one particular firearm, such as the M1 Garand. What he means by "Matching and Original" may be a long way from a M1 Garand collectors meaning, especially the term "original".

+1 to that. I replied to a guy one time and asked him about the all matching parts and he said" yea all the park matches nicely"
