Nice clean rifle. The cheek rest is shaped different to the ones normally seen as is the screw ''ears'' on the front band. This is probably trivial but i also noticed the screw slots in the front pad and cradle caps don't line up with the stake marks.

I wonder if the cheek piece was modified for a left hand shooter??

As a lefty, it sure looks to me like that cheek piece is set up so that it wouldn't interfere with my grip.

Yes, it might well have been modded for a lefty. The cheekpiece certainly looks to be an original example though. I think the rifle looks a peach. True, the front pad screw slots don't align with the centre puch marks, but I'm sure the rifle is right enough. The front band is of the fabricated type & I have another couple of rifles that bear such a pattern. I think this was yet another wartime simplification.
One other note is the rare Vickers Mk2/1 scope........clearly manufactured as such & not a conversion of an existing Mk2. I have one fairly close in the serial range (No43 if my memory serves me correctly).
Interestingly the serial has been applied twice to the forend; I think the original being the number running from front to back along the forend. It has been added again standard No4 style, presumably after the event.
A nice piece of kit............but I'd have to change the cheekpiece back!!

Almost 3 days left, hasnt hit the reserve yet. Now we will see how much someone with a craving for that rifle might be willing to pony up.

England
is pricey and I am wondering if they have to pay the 20% Vat on top of the price or is it included? Or do they pay VAT on used items? I will have to remember if I ever want to sell my T's to market them in England...yeah like I am going to sell them.
What isn't pricey in the UK, everything seems totally out of line whenever I have visited. I really don't know how anyone other than the filthy rich can afford to live in the UK.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

I think their gasoline is around a dollar more per gallon than in the US of course it could be more now due to the mideast turmoil. In Britain
it is Petrol and sold by the litre???

Is it just me being a newbie or does the S 51 and second ser. no. on the forend look a lot fresher than the rest of the markings? When I started collecting there did'nt seem to be as much interest in what all the markings ment or if they were correct or not so I'm trying to make up for lost time and would appreciate all the help I can get.
