SA 50 barrel

A friend of mine has a very nice Inland that was a Louisville Police carbine. The interesting thing is the barrel. SA made in 1950 with the P and crossed cannons stamped on the barrel. I did not know that Springfield Armory made these barrels. The stock has the RRA cartouche.

On pp. 551-553 of 'War Baby Comes Home,' it's stated that during the Korean conflict, Springfield Armory became the sole manufacturer of trigger housings and barrels for the carbine rebuild programs. In 1950 they supplied 26,200 barrel assemblies. Thousands more were produced each year through at least 1954. I've got a couple of SA stocks that I think were made during those years. - Bob

I think SA made stocks up until right before they closed the armory. IIRC the last stock wet finished in 1967.

Didn't SA also make Frt sights, rear adj sights, bayo bands and some receivers also?
Anyone know if they made any bolts and what other parts did they make?

They made most things but I don't think military receivers. (If so, somebody correct me)
Springfield Armory 'Inc', the company that formed later using the same name made commercial receivers though.

How have you been doing lately? Hadn't heard from you in a bit. Is your body still holding up OK after all you went through trying to fight horses?

Glad you're staying fit buddy. We've been through more MRI's etc in the past couple of years than I want to think about.
Trying to stay still and all, I always fall asleep during MRI's.

Great - suppose to be a thread about carbines, and two guys with a hobby of finding excuses of chasing nurses start taking over. May I at least suggest that you make sure the nurses are FEMALE before you start pinching them!!!

Harlan, I believe I read somewhere that (Dept of Ordnance) Springfield Armory made every part of the carbine except the receiver. I also remember that last year (while you and Charlie were trying to look up nurse's skirts) that someone on the forum was trying to find a commercial Springfield receiver in order to build a 100% Springfield carbine. I just don't remember who.
