Ooooooo, don't ask me BAR! I'm not a bayonet collector of any sort, just have a passing interest. But, I did have an EM2 bayonet - the No7 with a smaller ringed crosspiece that I stripped down and sent away to be re-phosphated. Only the blade assembly though. It was sent back but never arrived. So someone out there in the UK
has a stolen(?) EM2 bayonet blade while I have the rest of the bits.

. It is in VG to Exc condition and was manufactured for the 7.92mm, S.L.E.M. (Self-loading Experimental Model) with the manufacturers mark S.M.T. inside a diamond on the Pommel.
Only 2,400 were manufactured. It looks like a No 5 bayonet with an 8" Bowie blade and similar grips but the crosspiece has a smaller muzzle ring.
The second is the 1st Type .280 EM1/EM2 Prototype Bayonet in VG condition also found in "British & Commonwealth Bayonets" by Ian Skennerton, plate B305 (page #247-251).
It looks exactly like a No 7 bayonet with a smaller crossguard but smaller muzzle ring.
Bought a new Savage No4 Mk1* with this bayonet attached and I didn't ralize what it was until a few years later.
Any idea what these could be worth?
I do wish i had examples of both of these in my collection, I have a Israeli No8 but not th eUK one and the EM2 would be a pipe dream. Prices are hard to say, it depends on who is buying and if there are two buying. I woudl love both but probably wouldnt even bid as they are both out of my current range. (especially the 2nd one)

I picked up my No 8 several years back for $325. As BAR pointed out above, recent sale of one at $400. I think these prices are a fair representation of the pricing for that piece.
I don't have any personal sales history on the EM1/EM2, but if you are planning to sell it I would be very interested.
