I have a Winchester that was an RRAD rebuild. Only marked on the stock and no date anywhere. Has a 1947 SA barrel on it. It has a rebuild stock which is very thick and also has a New NM op rod. I did some research when I got this and found that the NM marked Op Rods were used on many rebuilds. My M1
is like new as far as the condition is concerned.

The RRAD marking is electropencilled on the receiver. Everything else sounds appropriate for a US military arsenal rebuild. (The red nail polish was likely added by a previous owner.) Yes, there are some things that are not intuitive about the M1
rifle, especially the metal-to-metal contact points that should be lubed with gun grease. You might want to buy a copy of The M1 Garand: Owner's Guide by Scott Duff.
