Like many service rifles, their accuracy is limited by the crude sights. They never changed the style of the foresight blade from the very first M1871 black powder rifles through to the very last FN-Israeli K98ks. I have both, and my M1871 is wearing an extra-tall K98kicon blade to get it zeroed at 100 meters! Get a scope on your rifle, and those groups may shrink even more!
