It's because of ITAR export regulations. Informed sellers are terrified of the penalties if they get caught as I've said here so many times before. I've been to the ITAR-State Department/Dept. of Commerce seminars and this stuff is REAL. Get a bulk order together if you want the repop scopes or other parts and pieces and hire an exporter to get the job done. The more you buy the cheaper it gets. That's what it takes.

I spent some idle time today looking up ITAR stuff. I could only find a mention of scopes with the explanation of " if manufactured to military specifications' .. nothing else. Talk about nebulous but it does mean that anything that doesn't have a mil dot and isn't something that was used by the military ( doesn't mention if it applies to relic stuff .. I suppose we should assume it does ) it should be fine. I have noted that most ebay and pretty much all gunbroker sellers just won't send overseas, presumably to protect themselves.

I'm thinking that the No.32 repros would be licensed for export by Dept. of Commerce and not Dept. of State. They are probably considered sporting rather than military. Dept. of State license the tactical and current issue stuff. Some tactical scopes and optical sights won't be approved at all unless going to police or military end users. I ran into a road block trying to export an ACOG to Scotland a couple of years ago. It was going to a legitimate dealer/manufacturer too. Go figure.

Scopes don't seem to be to much of a problem UNLESS they are milspec listed or have the mildot reticule. The mildot reticule will get a scope flagged faster than saying you are a member of el Queda
Numrich will not give the discount on ANYTHING going out of the USA
. Tried a couple of simple none descript items and again: NO GO!!! US orders only. bummer.......

Unfortunately, it's much more complex than that. Sporting scopes and some red dot sights come under Dept. of Commerce export licensing jurisdiction. Any modern tactical scopes, CQB sights, optical sights and military issue holo sights come under State Dept. jurisdiction. If they could only make it a bit more difficult to do business. Things are tough enough as it is. The funny thing is the leadership, (not), of the USA
are constantly telling us we need to do more exports!
