Trimble Saginaw HW Stock Question
A friend has a Saginaw Gear HW stock made by Trimble that he is willing to sell. It has a Saginaw cartouche and the SG in the box. It is marked Trimble in the sling well with numbers. What bothers me is that it does not have SG stamped in the sling well. Should it?
He bought it about a year ago at a gun show. Without the SG in the sling well I am concerned that it may be fake. Thought? Thanks.

Rangehound,
I am trying to visualize what you are describing. I am picturing that you have a partial serial number stamped in the sling well vis-a-vis the Bavarian markings? I would look very closely at the area under different light angles. I have a beautiful Trimble NPM stock with the partial serial stamped. The German
's chiseled the "Trimble" off to stamp the serial and it is barely visable with strong light at a close angle.
Pictures would help in understanding exactly what you got.

I have a Trimble TN stock with the SG and cartouche on the right side, and nothing in the slingwell except Trimble TN an some number like 206 C. This is from a CMP
gun , high wood type 2 stock. So maybe they made them with and without stamp in sling well?

Yes it is Jim,
It looks different now.......
Remember I took the before pics?
I think this one (4th down) had the crystals left from being in the white bag, but can't be sure.
It had areas that had some small pieces of brown wrap paper on it.
Might get a couple days off next week and have your wood ready to send back.
Miss Em Yet?
Gotta run to a meeting...
Cheers,

Charlie,
I have a few before pic's too. That one had a bunch of crystals.
Miss em? Not in the condition I sent them to you. Looking forward to seeing your magic touch though. Then the before and after pic's.
Remember, don't put them in front of anything important, no rush.
Thanks,
Jim
