Pictures of M-1 Carbine Display at Alabama Gun Collector Show
This past weekend Jim Brandt, Tommy Phillips and I set up a display of M-1 Carbines. Our intention was to provide to the attendees of the Spring Military Collector's Show in Birmingham, Al examples of the M-1 Carbine, Educate, and stimulate interest in this historic weapon. This display included examples of the (Winchester & Inland) Early, Mid, and Late featured. All other manufactures were also represented with examples of the Early and late features of each.
We have been asked by the AGCA to provide a more advanced showing of M-1 Carbines at the March 2012 Military Show. Conversations with advance Carbine collectors has begun with the possible organization of a National meeting in Birmingham at the next years show. This would provide an excellent opportunity for advanced Carbine collectors and other Carbine enthusiasts to gather and share our common interest in the M-1 Carbine.
Work has begun to build our display racks, organize plans for speakers, and develop education format. I will be looking for ideas and help from interested collectors going forward.
As many of you will remember I was one of the principles in the organization of the National M-1 Carbine Show in Birmingham a few years ago. Our team is looking forward to making this an exciting time for all with some interesting changes and improvements.
Collect to preserve,
Doug Yates

Are you thinking of having another competition with judging to go along with the display? I didn't make the first show. But saw pictures of some guys and of Larry signing books. I would buy another set of WAR BABY books just to get them signed.

Seriously drooling here!!!!
Can you tell me about the empty-chamber flags? I'm always looking for a better way to show a clear firearm, and those look interesting.
As an aside, there were about a dozen carbines this past weekend at the Lewiston gun show, all mixmasters (with a few commercials thrown in) in the $700 to $900 range. One M1A1
that sure appeared to be an original stock with a post-war rebuild mixer in it for $2,800.
Thanks for any info on the flags!!

Thanks for your question. The intent is not to have a competition but rather a quality display of Carbines representing the finest examples of period correct M-1's. The process for submission and display has not yet been established. Our thoughts are also to reach out to display the finest examples with complete data sheets and historical providence. Working on Speakers but have made no confirmation on any as of yet.
Best collecting to you.

The Show was put on and organized by 3 main people. Rich Van Damme, Doug Yates and Paul Imbragulio. We all carried the preparation and organizational responsibility for the show.
