My holy grail would be a No 4 Mk 2 with the following serial numbers

PF 411482 - PF 411471. These were an order from Hong Kong for the RHKDC of which my father was a member. I remember the regiment on parade on the parade grounds when I was a child. Really brings back fond memories. Also, I believe these were one of the last ones manufactured.

Anyone out there with one of these. Sure would like to know if any of these are still around.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. At this point I want to get a Long Branch No.4 MK1, no particular date, just a Long Branch. Ok, maybe in the '43 or '44 era.

I have a Britishicon and a US, now I just need Canadaicon's contribution.

After that I'll start getting picky.

So far as I've discovered there is no end to wanting yet another Enfield, but last week I got the one that had eluded me for quite awhile... a 1922 No 1 Mk V... sporterized but very nicely, and in excellent condition. It completes my "gotta haves" list, and anything beyond it is gravy.

This thread is a fantastic idea and has yielded some really interesting results.

To throw in my two cents...

I'd love to have a Great War production SMLE with a PP scope and PP mount. I suppose that any SMLE that had served on the First World War Western Front or WWI or II Italianicon campaigns would be my 'Grail' find. It's almost impossible to know unless the piece was somehow kept by its owner who fought in either of the campaigns (a virtually unheard of instance in and of itself).

Mine would have to be an early mk1 Savage.

My holy grail would be the Lee Enfield in .410 caliber. Heard of them, never seen one.

    My enfield must...

I have several lee enfields including 3 Long Branch No.4`s.
A must for me is an original No. 4 T. Sniper Rifle.
I had a chance at one a couple of years ago, but the deal fell thru..
    I`m still looking though!! Phil.

    Trials N0 4

My holy grail is a Trials No4 Mk 1 rifle with the Ball and Spring rear sight that came
before the Plunger and Spring rear sight.
