RG is of course milsurp, and thus 7.62. The AC SLR's are chambered for .308, NOT for 7.62! .308 RUAG or RWS works fine, that's what Gavin has been feeding his, with no problems.
EDIT - cross posted with Gavin as he was was posting.......!

I'm not an ammo man by any means but as I understand it, .308" ammo is slightly longer than 7.62mm NATO. Is that correct after reading this thread. In my limited experience of such things, I allowed a deer shooter to zero his telescoped rifle on a range we were using. He zeroed using our NATO 7.62mm stuff and left happily, mistakenly (?) swopping his .308" stuff for some of our 7.62mm NATO. I thought we'd better use this commercial .308 stuff up to save any lqter questions and lo and behold, it was too long to fit into the rifle or even the Bren magazines................ so we just handed it back to the ammo store as found on site and unused.
How do you converted L1A1 rifle shooters manage with this longer .308 stuff?

Picking mine up on Sunday. when are you getting yours David?
Have you picked up any accessories? Managed to get hold of a bayonet, and an ex royal artillery friend of mine has given me a cleaning kit, broken case extractor and multi tool. Also a nice wood butt which I may put on at some point.
Will get loading tomorrow!

Sounds nice David, can you tell me where you obtained the wood? I am looking for a hand guard, needs to be light beech to match my butt. do you have the tool to replace the butt?
I'm picking up at Gavins, only about 45min from me.
How are you going to break in the barrel? clean from the muzzle or break the rifle?
First new rifle I've had, being mostly into historic weapons, I have a Sako TRG but it was two years old when I bought it.

Picked up mine this evening - very nice indeed! UB60 number - but certainly feels like a new rifle!
