For some reason I thought real money was involved. I have to agree with Rick, at $1200.00, I would be offering less. The Mk1's are fun, but understand all of the correct Mk1 parts are expensive and difficult to find. Pass on this one.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... I have been seeing many Mark I 1903's being offered on GunBroker for what appears to be very inflated prices. I think that these sellers think that just because it is a Mark I, that it is truely very valuable. On many that I have seen, the only Mark I feature left on the rifle is the receiver....replacement stocks, No Mark I sear, replacement bolts, etc.....and they still ask stupid money for it. I remember at a gunshow in Florida several years ago, this guy was selling a plain 1903 manufactures about 1927. His sign said "Last Year of Production" which he said justified his price of $1500.
I suppose all it takes is one uninformed buyer for these guys to make thier money.

Could be one of several things:

    1) They bought the rifle for an inflated price and are trying to get their money back

    2) They REALLY do think they have a treasure (usually as a result of misinterpreting the Blue Book or anothert source

    3) Members of the IOTOS Club ("It only takes one sucker")

People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.
