7 months, wow that is real pain. Only been 2 weeks so far for me, so if they do arrive in weeks 17-19, I shouldn't have waited more than 6 weeks.

if Gavin can make the delivery in two weeks, it will be the quickest delivery I've ever had on a "to order" rifle
Just pleased it is on the way.......but the wait WILL be tough!

FYI all. Spoke to Daniel Valmont today - he is now offering these as a dealer. He can also get hold of complete wood sets (with carry handle assemblies) for those wishing to replace the plastic fantastics. He describes the condition as 2serviceable, but in need of refurb/refinish".

VALMONT FIREARMS About Us
Re removing the butt plate, you unscrew the centre screw, then gently lever the plug under the screw out, the hole is then large enough to get to the buttstock screw (which is easier if you have the buttstock screw removal tool, but not impossible without).

Went to Bisley yesterday and shot at 100yrds.
Wasn't a very serious shoot, was letting some friends have a go , just with sling, no rest. was holding 2 inch groups using RWS ammo, rifle functioned well.
I think I will eventually go the route of a piccatinny rail and scope, probably a 6 x 42 would fit the bill, and look the part.
Also getting used to the plastic furniture, may just get a long butt plate and see how it goes.
Another ex soldier, funny how they suddenly appear when you take out the SLR, said they had terrible problems with the wood handguards splitting, had to tape them up with duct tape!
