I'm not familiar with FTF. Is that like a pawn or gun shop locally there?

Yes, unfortunately there comes a time when it's probably better if we sell our own guns if they're not being passed down.
We are sure to get a better the fair market price and if left to loved ones that doesn't usually happen. It would sure be tough.

A very personal explanation
Dear MJ1, I was (as we often do) treating this light-heartedly. I know it is often very difficult to part with such things. How could I put myself in your shoes? - I have no knowledge of your personal situation, not even your name. Please do not take offence at my comments. No offence was intended, but if my comments have upset you, I hereby publicly and unreservedly apologise for this unintended result.
Maybe I take things lightly, but a couple of years ago I was pulled back from the brink by an emergency operation, where the surgeon said afterwards (in German
, of course) "Mr. Chadwick, in your case it was one minute to twelve". Since then I have been acutely aware that every day I wake up is an extension of time that had already run out, and when the curtain falls I shall have no time for a yard sale.
Nevertheless, I do not intend to sell everything and live in permanent trepidation of the inevitable. But I have taken the precaution of making a file folder for each firearm that I possess, with acquisition/registration details, loading info, sample groups, and prices realised for comparable examples. In this manner it will be possible for my family to dispose of my guns at a fair price to serious shooters.
Until then, I intend to enjoy my shooting as far as circumstances permit. Whether that is going to be as long as five years, I do not know.
Patrick
