I have been collectingcartridges for over 50 years now and still haven't found a 7.9 Jap. I HAVE found 3 different 7.7 Japaneseicon carridges..... but no 7.9.

Type 38 and Type 99 Arisakas were very similar. Japanese Rifle forum is the right place.
